Phase 005: Paris
Departing by train to find an airport in the middle of
nowhere.
Good to know West Cornwall has a thriving pasty industry.
Does this sign mean to state: "Please yield to fathers
balancing bicycles on their head"?
Arriving via RyanAir to Paris. Well, actually... when this
discount flyer states that they go to Paris or Glasgow, they
really mean that they fly to Beauvais or Prestwick, respectively. This
wouldn't be so bad, except these are cities around an hour away from the
place you really want to be.
Le Metro, for short, SVP.
La Louvre.
How can a giant metal structure sneak up on you? Just like
this.
La Tour Eiffel.
This reminds me of something... but I can't quite place it.
And then there's the Ferrari dealership...
The oddest thing about this is the five lane roundabout surrounding
the Arc de Triomphe... and there's no lanes painted on the ground!
And then back to the Eiffel Tower at night. For some reason, perhaps
because someone forgot to unplug the Christmas lights, this sucker
began to flash like a slot machine paying off the jackpot to some
chain-smoking grandma.
Takin' the tube back for some rest.
Much like the subterfuge used to sneak up on the Eiffel Tower, we
cautiously approached Notre Dame Cathedral from the back. Just in
case. 'Cause you just don't know.
Whisked away by the Metro...
The Eiffel Tower recedes in the distance...
Until all you see is the French countryside from a speeding bus.
How can you tell we've returned to Scotland?
Look at all them colourful bills.
