Whether you are a new grad, a co-op student,
or the next CEO, you'll need that little kick-start to help
you get familiar with the Ottawa area.
This guide is our attempt to show you the ropes when it
comes to entertainment, housing, transportation, eating out and
generally having a good time here in the Nation's capital.
This guide also contains lots the other miscellaneous information
we wished somebody would have told us when we first got here!

Message from PhotoDude
Greg's Deep Thought Korner Editorial
I noticed something rather recently that I wanted to talk
about. In a dicussion with a couple other people, I noticed them rambling
on, trying to find "answers" to what they thought were earth-shatteringly
important questions.
The question they specifically spent much time on was "Why is
there pain?" All I can say is, "Why are you wasting your time like
that?" They got into cosmic energy super-being vibrations and other
random new-agey junk to explain the phenomenon. I begin to wonder how
much time the human race wastes contemplating questions like this, and
making up fanciful answers, rather than spending time investigating the
universe and discovering useful things. Yes, useful things, like how
best to educate children, how to feed and heal each other, and where did
we all go so fundamentally wrong that there are people on our planet willing
to strap explosives to themselves and light the fuse.
Instead, we spend billions of hours of our collective time wondering:
"Why is there pain?", "What is the purpose of life?", "Is this person
I'm dating my soulmate?". Pain is a biological mechanism that makes
you afraid of damaging your body. Without that in your genes, your ancestors
never would have survived to create you. Your "purpose" in life is
to be your parents' child. Everything after that is up to you, rather
than something assigned externally. Stop asking, start deciding. No
one is your soul mate. Over 3 billion people are eligible to be your
mate. Do you really think that only one of them can make you happy?
There's a real world out there, with real problems that deserve
thinking about and acting to fix.
Greg
