The NUTS Photographic Scavenger Hunt
POSTPONED - Date TBA

Spend the afternoon running around downtown Ottawa with a disposable camera!

Much like a regular scavenger hunt, the object is to collect all of the items on the list. The trick here is that everything must be captured on a disposable 35mm camera.

For more information or to register for this event, send an email to
Jason Barron

Entry Fee Per Team:
TBD

Registration Cut-off:
TBA

After the Scavenger Hunt, join the NUTS Comittee and other participants to exchange stories and get to know your opponents. We'll all be meeting at Rosy O'Grady's (110 York Street, across from Minglewoods) in the Market at 7:00 pm. Everyone welcome!

Go NUTS!

RULES:

  1. Teams will be comprised of between four and six people. Participants can elect to be placed on random teams in order to get to meet new people.
  2. Tasks have been localized to Downtown Ottawa and the Byward Market. All photographs can be taken by a group travelling on foot. There will be no need to hop on a bus or take a car to accomplish the given tasks.
(Strategy: Look at the entire list and plan your attack based what you think can be accomplished best first. Don't spend too much time running back and forth across the Market, as this will waste valuable time.)
  3. Participants will meet on Parliament Hill at 1:00 pm. Ensure that your entire group is present at this time. Only people who are present at the start of the game will be eligible for prizes.
  4. Entry fee will be collected and each team will be given the following:

  • The NUTS Photographer will take a photo of the team in front of Parliament before the hunt begins. All team members should take turns using the camera. Points will be deducted if the same person is missing from all of the group photos.
  • Tasks are ranked due to difficulty of obtaining the shot. For example, it is very easy to take a group photo on the steps of Parliament. It is much more difficult to take a group photo in the Prime Minister's office. More difficult photos will have higher point values associated with them. It may be possible to win the game with only a few difficult photos completed!
  • The last photograph on the film roll must be of the Peace Tower, clearly showing the time. In the event of a tie, the group with the EARLIEST time showing on the Peace Tower clock will be declared the winner. Please note that with winter approaching quickly, it may be difficult to take a picture of the clock face after dark.
  • Cameras must be returned before 6:00 pm on Parliament Hill. Representatives from NUTS will be in front of Parliament between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm to collect the cameras.
  • Winners will be notified by email and will have their names in the Juice & Gin Newsletter. Prizes will be awarded at the Middle of Term Party (October 26, 2001).
  • Be creative! Some tasks are open-ended and may require some extra thought. Additional points may be awarded for particularly creative or humourous photographs.
  • Have fun!
  • After handing in your group's camera, join the NUTS committee and other participants at Rosy O'Grady's (110 York Street) in the Market to exchange stories and get to know your opponents.
